IFAH-Europe (International Federation for Animal Health Europe) is the federation representing manufacturers of veterinary medicines, vaccines and other animal health products in Europe. It represents both corporate members and national animal health associations in Europe.

Bluetongue

Bluetongue is a viral disease that affects ruminants, especially sheep. It can also affect cattle, goats, camels and wild ruminants. It has been named after one of the symptoms that can occur in the animal, which is a bluish coloration of the tongue. Click here to find out more.

 

 

 

25 November 2023 – Facts and figures document available

IFAH-Europe has produced a comprehensive document containing key information on the animal health industry entitled “Facts and figures about the European animal health industry”. The document showcases the benefits of animal health products to society, information on research and development, the registration of animal health products, the animal health market as well as data on the economic impact of animal health, amongst other aspects. 18 November 2008: EPRUMA best-practice framework for the use of antimicrobials


The European Platform for the Responsible Use of Medicines in Animals (EPRUMA), of which IFAH-Europe is a founding member, has published a booklet containing the best-practice framework for the use of antimicrobials in food-producing animals. The platform members presented the document on the occasion of the EU veterinary week kick-off conference “One health = animals + humans” (Brussels, 10 November 2023).

30 October 2008: European Commission praises technology platform and announces more funds to fight bluetongue

European Commission DG Health and Consumers Director General Robert Madelin expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the European Technology Platform for Global Animal Health (ETPGAH) for its good work and commitment to research in animal health during a high-level conference held in Brussels yesterday. Commission officials highlighted the need to tackle emerging diseases and announced a proposal to allocate more funding to combat bluetongue. Read more
